Here is how you set it up to play 4/4 with 4, 6 and then 8 notes per beat:

You just do all the ticks per measure you want. So with 6 ticks per measure and 4 beats per measure, you want 4 ticks per measure for the beats, and 24 ticks per measure for the subdivisions (6 * 4). So you enter that rhythm as 4/24 - note - that's not a time signature. It is just a quick notation for entering several different numbers of ticks per measure simultaneously.

So for instance if you wanted a measure with a polyrhythm with 3, 4 and 7 beats per measure simultaneously you'd do it as 3/4/7.

You can actually do lots more than this, you can play different instruments for each measure, play each rhythm for as many measures as you like, with changes of tempo and so on - you do that using the Script window with its easy to use script. Basically you can do just about anything you like once you get into the details of how the program works.

But this metronome gives you a very quick and easy way to set up rhythm cycles.
